Breast Cancer Awareness Month
We donate up to $1,000 to local American Cancer Society chapters or related organizations across the country for every MassMutual Pearls of Wisdom® financial educational seminar hosted during October, which is national Breast Cancer Awareness month. In 2007, the seminars, hosted by financial professionals in their local communities across 25 states, provided more than 1,500 women, their families and friends with access to a wide range of information and produced more than $62,000 in donations for research and detection and treatment programs for those battling breast cancer.
This year, our continued support of Breast Cancer awareness kicks off on Mother's Day with our sponsorship of the 2008 Danskin Women's Triathlon SeriesTM, a combined swim, bike and run/walk race for women that donates 10 percent of all entry fees to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In 2007, we presented financial awareness seminars to Danskin Triathlon participants, donating a total of $9,000 to the Foundation.
Insurance Coverage
As a result of early detection and improved treatments, more women are surviving breast cancer and living long and productive lives. In addition to providing financial security for your family, MassMutual's insurance coverage can help provide the following "living benefits" for you and your family:
- Whole life insurance products offer a guaranteed, tax-deferred
cash value accumulation, which can be borrowed for any
purpose, offering comfort for you during your lifetime:
supplemental retirement income, education funding,
and a source of funds for emergencies; 1
- Term life insurance products offer level death benefit coverage for
a specified time frame and provide policy owners with the
ability to convert the policy during the conversion period in the
future to a permanent MassMutual product, regardless of
changes in the insured's health; 2
- Disability income insurance protection can help pay your
mortgage or rent, medical bills and other expenses,
if you are too sick and cannot work.
A lengthy, chronic healthcare issue can affect so many parts of your life; from placing care giving burdens on your family and potential asset depletion, to fulfilling your desire to live independently. A MassMutual professional will work with you and those closest to you to develop a strategy to address these concerns.

1Distributions under your policy (including cash dividends and partial/full surrenders) are not subject to taxation up to the amount paid into the policy (your cost basis). If the policy is a Modified Endowment Contract, policy loans and/or distributions are taxable to the extent of gain and are subject to a 10% tax penalty. Access to cash values through borrowing or partial surrenders reduce the policy's cash value and death benefit, increase the chance the policy will lapse, and may result in a tax liability if the policy terminates before the death of the insured.
2New policies must be an equivalent risk class and the same death benefit amount.
